The Bookshop of Yesterdays is a beautifully written story that sucks readers in. I was in a bit of a book slump after the holidays, but I read this book and couldn't put it down! The story centers around Miranda Brooks whose uncle has just passed away. She's headed home to deal with the estate, including the bookshop her uncle owned and the clues he left behind for her. Meanwhile, her mother is acting strangely, her boyfriend back in Philadelphia is aloof, and the manager of the bookshop is suspicious of her motives. I suggest this book for more mature readers as it is longer and denser, making allusions to other written works that younger readers may not be familiar with. |
